Laser Doppler Vibrometer

MetroLaser (Irvine, CA) has announced the VibroMet 500V single-beam laser Doppler vibrometer that features a sensitivity range of 2 microns/sec, and a vibration velocity measurement range of 1 meter/sec. The laser is collimated, so there is no need to adjust a focusing lens. Its solid-state laser diode ensures the system receives signals at distances of up to 5 meters. The system has a visible red laser beam for point and measure operation. The VibroMet 500V is suitable for quality assurance, product optimization, and other applications that require measuring vibration without touching the object being measured. Common measurement applications include turbine blades for aircraft and power generators, automobile engines, body parts and mufflers, computer disk drives and storage devices, and optical and laser systems.
