FLIR Systems (Portland, OR) announced the availability of its Tau CNV, a rugged compact and low-power CMOS HD camera for ultra low-light, video rate imaging applications. Incorporating Fairchild Imaging’s sCMOS technology, Tau CNV delivers a dynamic range of 90 db (30,000:1) and ultra-low read noise resulting in low-light performance of 600 microlux (color) and 200 microlux (monochrome). In addition, CMOS sensor technology eliminates blooming effects common to EBAPS and EMCCD cameras. The CNV operates on less than 4 Watts of power, weighs less than 175 grams, and takes up approximately 1502 cm of volume. The highly configurable Tau CNV supports a variety of HD formats at 30 FPS and is compatible with either C or F series lenses.
