Edmund Optics® (Barrington, NJ) has introduced new Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras. Each device includes software that allows the user to set area of interest (AOI), gain, exposure, white balance, frame rate, trigger delay, and digital output (flash) delay and duration. The software can also implement edge enhancement, image mirroring and binning, and hot pixel correction.

The camera is powered by either a PoE injector, which requires two GigE cables, or a PoE Computer Card. The camera captures images in JPEG, Bitmap, or AVI format. Drivers for Direct Show (WDM), ActiveX, and TWAIN are included. The device is available in 1/1.8", ½", and 1/3" sizes, in both color and monochrome models. The PoE interface meets IEEE 802.3af, and the camera is CE, RoHS, and GenICam compliant. Optional equipment is also offered, including a ¼-20 mounting adapter, a 5-m trigger cable, and a PCIe board for two cameras.
