The UXX ironless motor from Tecnotion (Almelo, The Netherlands) features no cogging and zero attraction force between the coil unit and the magnets. It is designed for heavy-duty industrial applications requiring high precision and maximum force output. With the ironless motor, the resistance is formed by the magnet height, two air gaps, and the coil’s thickness. This results in a relative high magnetic resistance, causing a low magnetic flux. The ironless motor features a moderate peak force density, a low continuous force density, and higher heat dissipation.
The motor has no attraction force, so the only force generated is the thrust force. Because of the high magnetic resistance, the coil’s inductivity is relatively low, enabling high rates of change for quick movements and reactions to disturbance forces.
