Maxim Integrated (San Jose, CA) has introduced the MAXREFDES42# IOLink resistance temperature detector (RTD). The design’s integrated analog front end (AFE) also identifies overvoltage, shorts, and open circuits. The temperature appears immediately on an LED display.

MAXREFDES42#, which fits in a standard industrial form factor, supports all three IO-Link speeds. The sensor is also available for use with a 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire PT100 RTD. Applications include air, gas, and liquid temperature measurement. The MAXREFDES42# uses the IOLink device stack to communicate with IO-Link version 1.1-compliant masters. By utilizing an industrial DC-DC step-down converter, the system consumes less than 300 mW of power.
