The DGEA cantilever electric linear actuator from Festo Corp. (Hauppauge, NY) is designed so the slide unit remains stationary while the profile moves axially. Suited for space-contained, multi-axis configurations, the motor and cables remain fixed, minimizing the moving mass to just the load and aluminum profile. The toothed belt-driven actuator with an internal recirculating ball bearing guide comes in two mounting configurations: the basic, in-line coupling model, or with an integrated right-angle gearbox. The unit allows direct mounting of end effectors such as grippers, rotary drives, and vacuum components, and increases system dynamics by reducing the effective moving load. As the motor cables remain stationary, cable fatigue is eliminated. Features include speed to 3m/sec, stroke lengths to 1,000 mm, and 18-, 25-, and 40-mm sizes.
