To explore wavefront sensorless adaptive optics, Edmund Optics (Barrington, NJ) has announced the Iris AO Adaptive Optics Kit. The kit includes a MEMS-based deformable mirror, optics, optomechanics, camera, and GUI software. The Deformable Mirror design features 37 hexagonal segments controlled by 111 actuators. The mirror is coated with a highly reflective protected silver coating.

GUI-driven software and a USB interface supports the introduction or correction of monochromatic aberrations. The Iris AO PTT111 DM can also be used for testing and development of beam splitting, beam shaping, and other complex algorithms on a test bed. The system is compatible with Windows™ 7 and 8 (32-/64-bit) operating systems.
