Stick-On, Flexible OLED Display Powered by Mos2 Semiconductor
Engineers from Yonsei University in South Korea have created a way to build molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) transistors that can function in flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. They used the transistors to construct a simple 6x6-pixel array on a super-thin plastic sheet that can stick on the skin. The key property they had to engineer was carrier mobility, which is a a measure of how quickly charge moves through a semiconductor. The researchers explained their groundbreaking work in a recent issue of Science Advances . Atomically thin molybdenum disulfide has been investigated in semiconductor electronics but has not before been applied in a backplane circuitry of an OLED display.
