Robots Teach Themselves to See, and Handle Objects
Robots often have trouble handling objects they've never seen before. Research from MIT enables robots to autonomously learn "descriptors" from scenes to help them identify and manipulate objects. The work is presented in a paper called "Dense Object Nets: Learning Dense Visual Object Descriptors By and For Robotic Manipulation."
