On April 19, 2021, NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter took off and hovered over Jezero Crater . The achievement — approximately 40 seconds of time in the air — was the first-ever demonstration of powered, controlled flight on another planet. NASA's team hopes that the helicopter demo will support future exploration and scouting missions.
