Cross Platform 3D Laser Scanner

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division (North Kingstown, RI) announced its new AS1 Scanner. The modular blue laser line scanner operates with both laser trackers and portable measuring arms and integrates Hexagon’s SHINE (Systematic High-Intelligence Noise Elimination) technology so users can scan most any surface type at maximum speed and accuracy. The AS1 features a data collection speed of 1.2 million points per second and delivers scanning accuracy within 50 microns in a 60-meter volume, handheld or automated, with an Absolute Tracker AT960 laser tracker. For small to medium size parts or products, the scanner unit can be mounted to any current-generation Absolute Arm 7-axis system for scanning and hidden area inspection with scanning accuracy of 16 microns within a measurement volume from 2 - 4.5 meters.

Silicon Photonics Test System

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (Colorado Springs, CO) announced the new NX5402A Silicon Photonics Test System integrated with Keysight PathWave Semiconductor Test software technology to test silicon photonics wafers. Keysight's new NX5402A test system provides proven measurement technologies and direct support capabilities including integrated optical and electrical test capabilities; eliminates manual operations with PathWave Semiconductor Test software that is compatible with Keysight's SPECS software, enabling one-pass silicon photonics testing; provides high throughput testing based on multi-channel optical and electrical test architecture; and maintaining high accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility from laboratory to fabrication.

Eco-Friendly Glass Windows

Edmund Optics® (Barrington, NJ) has expanded its inventory of SCHOTT products with the addition of SCHOTT D263® T eco Windows. These windows are 0.4mm thick and are constructed from glass substrates manufactured with eco-friendly refining agents with excellent transmission in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) spectra. The SCHOTT D263® T eco Windows feature a surface roughness of less than 1nm RMS with exceptional thickness tolerances and total thickness variation (TTV). Having high chemical resistance, durability to harsh environmental factors, and a light weight, these windows make excellent alternatives to plastic substrates for applications including resistive touch panels.

CMOS Microscopy Camera

Teledyne’s Scientific Imaging group (Tucson, AZ) announced its new Kinetix22 scientific CMOS camera. Built on the success of Teledyne Photometrics’ Kinetix, Prime 95B and Prime BSI back-illuminated sCMOS cameras, the Kinetix22 supports high-speed and low noise scientific imaging applications. The new camera provides a 22-millimeter sensor field of view, frame rates of up to 498 fps, a high 95% quantum efficiency, and sub-electron noise levels. With an optimized 5.7-megapixel senor array, the new camera expands the possibilities for devices using optical paths common to many preexisting microscopes and imaging systems.

Solar Simulator

Innovations in Optics, Inc. (Woburn, MA) introduced the new LumiSun™-50, an innovative, compact LED, AAA solar simulator. LumiSun™-50 provides AAA certified output over a 50 mm x 50 mm illumination area and is suitable for measuring the efficiency and spectral response of photovoltaic cells. Unlike bulky, lamp-based solar simulators, LumiSun™-50 employs a multi-wavelength array of long lifetime LEDs that are driven independently to emulate the spectral output of the sun. The unit offers three preset solar reference spectra plus the flexibility to create and save user-defined spectra by varying the output of the individual LEDs. Output power can be varied from 0.1 to 1.5 Suns.
