High-Speed InGaAs Photodiodes
OSI Optoelectronics (Hawthorne, CA) has introduced infrared-sensitive, pigtail-packaged High-Speed InGaAs Photodiodes with active areas of 75 µm and 120 µm. The single/multi-mode fiber is optically aligned to either a hermetically sealed InGaAs diode in a TO-46 cap package (which enhances coupling efficiency and stability) or can be directly connected to the InGaAs diode mounted on a ceramic substrate. With high responsivity from 900 nm to 1700 nm, low capacitance, and low back reflection, the new pigtail photodiodes are available in a variety of configurations with different terminations and different fibers (single- and multi-mode).
MIPI Optical Modules
Teledyne e2v (Grenoble, France) announced the release of its 2-Megapixel Optimom™, the first in a range of MIPI CSI-2 optical modules. Powered by Teledyne e2v’s proprietary 2-Megapixel, low-noise, global shutter image sensor technology, Optimom™ 2M features a native MIPI CSI-2 protocol and standard FPC connector to link with embedded processing boards. Integration is instant using a dedicated Development Kit, which includes both an adapter board for hardware integration and Linux drivers for straightforward software integration with NVIDIA Jetson or NXP i.MX solutions.
High-Resolution Radiation-Tolerant Lenses
Resolve Optics (Chesham, UK) is now supplying HD (1080p) resolution lenses optimized for the new generation of radiation-hard CMOS cameras. The non-browning glass used withstands long-term exposure to radiation up to a dose of 100,000,000 rad without significant discoloration. An example of this new generation of high-resolution radiation tolerant lenses is the Model 357. Operating at f/3.6, the Model 357 provides high image resolution and minimum geometric distortion from 400 to 770 nm, and can image objects from 1.5 m to infinity. When focused at infinity, this 1/3rd or 2/3rd inch format lens achieves high image resolution at full aperture throughout the zoom range without refocusing.
UV NSS Optical Fibers
Armadillo SIA (Riga, Latvia) recently introduced Optran® UV NSS Fiber, specially designed to provide deep-UV (ultraviolet) solarization resistance. The new optical fiber features a hermetic carbon layer, very low numerical aperture (NA) expansion, and superior optical stability while operating in the UVC spectral range and beyond, from 190 nm to 1200 nm. The UV NSS optical fibers are available in any NA value from 0.12 to 0.30 and can be customized upon request. Core diameters are available from 90 µm to 1000 µm. Comprised of biocompatible materials, the operating temperature range of the Silica/Silica optical fibers is -190 to +150°C.
5GigE Camera System
Featuring the same 29 mm x 29 mm size combined with five-times faster Gigabit Ethernet data transmission — the ace 2 Basic camera is the centerpiece of Basler's (Ahrensburg, Germany) new 5GigE portfolio. Six models are equipped with Sony's 4th generation Pregius S CMOS sensors IMX540, IMX541 and IMX542 for high resolutions of 24, 20 and 16 megapixels. Six other models with IMX545, IMX546 and IMX547 sensors offer medium resolutions of 12, 8 and 5 megapixels. All twelve new ace 2 camera models feature matching lenses, cables and PC cards, as well as the newly expanded pylon Camera Software Suite, enabling an easy upgrade from USB 3.0 setups or the 1:1 replacement of an existing GigE system. All are available in mono and color variants.
