From electric vehicles and renewable energy support to portable electronics and medical equipment, there are several applications for batteries. Many resources used to make batteries — e.g., lithium, alkaline, pure graphite — are in limited supply and/or are not environmentally friendly, which has led to many advances in battery technology.
