Variable Beam Expander
Edmund Optics has released the new 1064nm 2× – 8× Gemma® Variable Beam Expander. Featuring a high LIDT and fixed housing length, these beam expanders are designed for high power laser applications with strict spatial requirements. To minimize beam wander, an internal translation and focusing mechanism is utilized to allow for magnification adjustments without rotating the lenses. Their adjustable 2× – 8× expansion power allows for easy prototyping to determine suitable system magnification. Designed with Gaussian beams in mind, the 1064nm 2× – 8× Gemma® Variable Beam Expander has no ghost foci and features non-rotating lenses in a Galilean configuration to provide a high degree of pointing accuracy while also maintaining a compact housing length of 158mm.

224G Modulator
OpenLight has developed and demonstrated a 224G InP-based modulator available for Tower’s PH18DA platform. Measured as part of a fully operational photonic integrated circuit (PIC), OpenLight extended the speed of its PAM4 modulator and demonstrated a PAM4 224G eye. This new 224G modulator is integrated on a demonstration PIC with a heterogeneous integrated laser and other required silicon photonics components to enable a full transmitter. Fabricating these components on a heterogeneous SiPh platform enables significant gains in yield, decrease of production complexity, and improved performance. Datacom customers can now extend their multi-lane DR and FR based datacom designs to 224G per wavelength, doubling overall speed without increasing PIC cost.

Fixture Mount Sensors
Leviton has introduced an expansion of their integrated in-fixture control offering with Smart Fixture Mount Sensors (FMS) for high bay applications. These in-fixture controls are engineered to install directly into high-bay and low-bay luminaires to provide an integrated occupancy sensing, dimming, daylight harvesting and scheduling solution to meet the most stringent energy code requirements. The IP66 rated Smart Fixture Mount Sensors are available in two mounting options, internal and external or end-mount, and are designed for use with switching or 0-10V dimming drivers. Both internal and external mount options are available in 120-277VAC and universal 120-347VAC for single pole applications and 208-480VAC for two-pole applications.

Pluggable Module
Ekinops has introduced its new PM_400FR05-C2A pluggable module for the Ekinops360 WDM optical transport system. This new line card is the first coherent module from Ekinops based on 400G pluggable line interfaces, offering lower cost, lower power coherent solutions than what is offered by high-performance embedded optics. The PM_400FR05-C2A provides multiple client options capable of supporting either 100GbE or OTU4 as well as 400GbE connectivity. The line interface is programmable from 100G to 400G. As a standards-based solution, the PM_400FR05-C2A is fully interoperable with other third-party compliant interfaces making it easy and inexpensive for service providers to interconnect switch/router ports.

Connectors and Adapters
Fairview Microwave recently released a series of 10kV and 20kV connectors and adapters. They are suitable for a wide range of uses, including imaging inspection, test and measurement, and medical and aerospace applications. This new line of hermetically sealed 10kV and 20kV connectors and adapters offers decreased rates of off-gassing and diffusion. Made with rugged brass bodies and nickel plating, these high-voltage connectors and adapters are resilient and long-lasting. Fairview’s 10kV and 20kV connectors and adapters feature a maximum frequency of 300 MHz, higher operating voltage ratings of 10kV/20kV DC, and higher insulation resistance of 1000 MOhm.
