Kollmorgen (Radford, VA) has announced the latest update to its AKD2G Servo Drive. The updated servo drive features new communication protocols that support easier integration with third-party controllers while delivering industry-leading performance. With the introduction of these new features, Kollmorgen has broadened its offerings to additionally support PROFINET IRT and Ethernet/IP with CIP Sync alongside CANopen®, EtherCAT®, and FSoE time-synchronized communication protocols. Each protocol is rigorously tested with a variety of motion controllers and certified by industry standards organizations. The AKD2G servo drive update allows for synchronized motion between multiple drives using a wide variety of control architectures. Thanks to its flexibility and high performance, AKD2G is the ideal drive for use in applications that require highly precise coordination across multiple axes of motion.

Stereo Vision Solution
Teledyne FLIR IIS (Richmond, CA) has announced the Bumblebee® X series — an advanced stereo vision solution built on our best-in-class stereo vision portfolio. The company has actualized a new industrial stereo camera Bumblebee X and a software Spinnaker® 3D that offer a comprehensive solution with onboard processing to build successful systems for warehouse automation, robotics guidance, and logistics. Customers can test and deploy depth sensing systems that work up to ranges of 20 meters with the wide baseline solution. 3D-Inspection Vision Software
Pleora Technologies (Ottawa, Canada) is expanding its eBUS Edge GigE Vision software transmitter solution with feature-based licensing tiers to help designers meet performance and cost demands as new 3D cameras, sensor-based imaging devices, and embedded and IoT products are deployed in machine vision applications. The eBUS Edge converts imaging solutions and embedded devices to fully compliant GigE Vision, GenICam devices without investing in any additional hardware. By adding eBUS Edge to a CPU’s software stack, devices support GigE Vision compliant image transmission, can respond to control requests from a host PC, and integrate with off-the-shelf machine vision processing. For 3D inspection, eBUS Edge converts 3D images and data into GigE Vision and GenICam compliant time-stamped data that is transmitted with associated metadata over low-latency Ethernet cabling. For embedded applications, eBUS Edge enables designers to develop small form-factor GigE Vision imaging and sensor devices that are easily networked and integrated with machine vision processing solutions.

AC Hypoid Gearmotors
Bodine Electric Company (North Field, IL) has introduced 12 new AC inverter-duty hypoid hollow shaft gearmotors. These type 42R-25H2 and 42R-30H3 geared motors combine an all-new AC inverter-duty, 230/460 VAC motor with two hypoid gearheads. When used with an AC inverter (VFD) control, these gear motors deliver maintenance-free, reliable high torque output. They are ideal for conveyors, gates, packaging and other industrial automation equipment that demands both high torque and low power consumption from the driving gearmotor. These new AC hypoid gearmotors are designed to be high-performance, energy-efficient alternatives to gearmotors with standard worm gearing. These are available with gear ratios from 5:1 to 240:1, provide up to 2,328 lb-in (236 Nm) of continuous torque, and speeds of up to 340 rpm. The unique hypoid gearheads are permanently lubricated and feature hardened steel gears for long-life and quiet operation. The new type 42R-25H2 (1-inch) and 42R-30H3 (1.25-inch) hollow shaft gearmotors optimize mounting space, simplify installation, and reduce the number of required parts.

Linear Voice Coil Servo Motor
Linear Servo Motor from Moticont (Van Nuys, CA) combines high precision and high force in an easily integrated package. The GVM-095-051-01 Linear Voice Coil Servo Motor, also called a moving coil motor, features high acceleration/deceleration, high speed, smooth motion even at very low speeds, and high precision, accuracy and repeatability when operated in a closed servo loop. This brushless servo motor has a 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) stroke with 23.5 lbs. (104.6 N) of continuous force for a high force-to-size ratio and 74.0 lbs. (329.3 N) of peak force at a 10 percent duty cycle. The precision ground diameter shaft, guided by a bearing, is 1.78 in. (45.2 mm) long in the extended position. The shaft can tolerate side loads to 5 lbs. (22 N), and has a 4-40 UNC 2B × 0.38 deep thread for backlash free connection to a load.
Compact, the GVCM-095-051-01 motor is 3.750 in. (95.3 mm) in diameter and the housing is just 2.0 in. (63.5 mm) long. When the shaft is extended the coil end extends beyond the housing by 1.780 in. (45.2 mm) and the housing and coil ends each have two 10-32 UNF-2B threaded holes on 1.00 in. (25.4mm) bolt circles for easy installation.

AI-Powered Trolley Robot
ABB Robotics (Auburn Hills, MI) has announced its first Flexley Tug T702 autonomous mobile robot equipped with AI-based Visual SLAM navigation technology and the new AMR Studio software, enabling first-time robot users to easily program and operate entire fleets of mobile robots. The new capabilities simplify configuration and can reduce commissioning time by up to 20 percent, paving the way for a workplace where intelligent robots operate autonomously.
