A Digital Teaching Platform for EVs
The Roadmap Platform aims to bridge the gap between modern technological tools and teaching resources. The Center for Digital Curricula is also developing curricula on electric vehicles and mobility to support Michigan's EV transformation. Watch this video to learn more.
“We hope to nurture our children’s natural curiosity in electric vehicles and inspire them to help design and build greener technology,” said Elliot Soloway , co-director of the Center for Digital Curricula and Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan.

00:00:00 everybody we're going to have a little five minute brain break one two [Music] three [Music] s democracy needs education public education is the Cornerstone of democracy if we want to live for people have to be educated and be able
00:00:33 to make decisions to help educate the digital first generation a computer science professor at the University of Michigan developed a tool called road maps I want to see this road maps take off and we're on the cusp of it road maps relies heavily on technology and computers in classrooms homes Elementary in iolan is one of the school's testing the
00:01:01 platform the term these days is Alpha generation the children born after 2012 those are the kids who grew up digital first they they grew up with this phone for better for worse they are screen oriented so we have to use the technology the tools that they are expecting in the classroom yeah of course it's really really fun and nice cuz it's like a fun way of learning you
00:01:28 know if I get the chance to do anything created I'm going to do it in general they're going to understand it or retain it more if it's in a video format or a Hands-On thing so I really like using it that way recently Solway has updated road maps with a curriculum that introduces students to electric vehicle technology technology is about new technology is about
00:01:55 change change is hard especially in a classroom and what we need to do in the curriculum is include pieces of the world that's new that's different electric vehicles are new they're different they're part of the next World you'll know your magnet is inside another magnet's magnetic field when you feel a push or a pull right sometimes when you put the opposite ends together
00:02:25 then went right I do like to pull pull science into my classes so that's why I'm doing this electric vehicles um road maps cuz it just seemed to be kind of perfect for for my kids and and they're enjoying it yeah we mainly focus on like how like everything works in these cars and electricity how does a battery work batteries are Central to electric vehicles to electrification in America
00:02:53 how does a battery work how where do the stuff that goes into a battery come from yeah let them learn about that and so fortunately we've came together with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation we're developing electric vehicle types of curriculum and the teachers like it the kids like it it's new it's what the future is the directions are always going to be up at
00:03:16 the top and the kids young as they are they want to see the future all right if you get up watch this no no it's a troll movie no it's the [Music]
