WHO

Aithon Robotics is revolutionizing the way critical infrastructure is inspected and maintained by relieving humans from hazardous work at height and delegating these tasks to sophisticated, remotely operated robotic drones.

WHAT

Aithon Robotics’ inspection drone is a tether-powered, remotely operated robotic platform designed for high-force work on hard‑to‑reach infrastructure surfaces. The drone flies to vertical or overhead structures and locks in place using an active suction system, enabling stable, perching-based operation rather than free flight. Once attached, it can perform precision tasks such as drilling, non‑destructive scanning, sensor installation, and testing using interchangeable tool modules. By attaching directly to the asset, the technology decouples flight from interaction. This enables precise, high-force tasks with up to 500 N of force and no flight disturbance. The tool gantry compensates for drone drift and expands task coverage from single points to larger surfaces. Its modular payload system handles most handheld tools up to 11 lbs, from drills to sensors, enabling any infrastructure job. Continuous power via tether allows extended operation time, higher payload capability, and consistent force application, making it well-suited for inspection and maintenance of bridges, towers, and industrial facilities without scaffolding or shutdowns.

WHERE

Aithon Robotics, Zurich, Switzerland

WHY

This approach minimizes operational disruption, enables more frequent and proactive inspections, and allows issues to be detected and addressed earlier. By perching, inspection, testing, and repair become possible without endangering human workers.

WHEN

Aithon Robotics is partnering with engineering companies across Europe to perform pilot projects in multiple industries. This will be expanded into a full service offering for asset integrity managers.
