The Weekly Status Reporting & Approval Application is a Web application that enables organizations to gather weekly or monthly (periodically) statuses electronically from all employees using a time-based process. Users input their status, which may include uploaded images, into previously agreed-to categories. The system provides an approval process that allows for forwarding of statuses up the organizational hierarchy by designated approvers. Approved statuses get put into a final downloadable report. Historical statuses can be downloaded in report form to get a year at a glance for individuals and groups.

The new version allows organizations to have their own unique workflow that defines their status approval process. The approval process occurs during a specified reporting period as configured for the organization. The status categories are easily changed based on how the higher-level organization wants statuses categorized. Status reporting periods can be set up as weekly or monthly. For each reporting period, users enter their status(es). All users can attach images to their status. Users with approval authority (approvers) can approve statuses for their organization. Approvers can also edit the status before approval. The hierarchal approval process allows managers in lower-level organizations to filter statuses, thereby not overwhelming managers at higher levels in the organization. At the specified cutoff day and time for an organization, approved statuses get moved to the next organization in the workflow. This process continues until the end of the status period. At this time, all statuses that have been approved through every stage in the workflow make it into a final status report.

The main product of the application is the final report in a Microsoft Word document. This provides the top-level organization with a modifiable document with all approved statuses.
