As part of the SeaDAC family of USB data acquisition devices, Sealevel Systems, Inc. (Liberty, SC) introduced the SeaDAC PLC-16H digital I/O module featuring eight single-pole, doublethrow (SPDT), high-current Form C outputs and eight optically isolated inputs.

A digital interface adapter is included. The Form C relays can directly switch up to 6 A loads at 250 VAC and 100 VDC, and can be wired for either normally open or normally closed operation. Additionally, eight nonpolarized inputs can monitor 5-30 VDC and provide optical isolation to protect the host computer and other sensitive equipment from voltage transients and ground loops. For connecting I/O, removable terminal blocks are standard to aid field wiring. The module is USB bus powered, so no external power supply is needed. SeaDAC modules are housed in plastic enclosures and include a retentive USB type B connector to prevent accidental disconnection.

The standard operating temperature range for SeaDAC modules is 0 to 70°C, with an optional extended temperature range from -40 to 85°C. OEM versions without enclosures are available. Software integration, application programs, and third-party software can use Sealevel's SeaMAX library or industry standard Modbus protocol. Diagnostic utilities and sample programs are included.
