Anritsu Company (Richardson, TX) has introduced the MT9090A Network Master™ Micro-OTDR, a new tool for the installation and maintenance of today’s optical networks. The MT9090A Network Master features 5 cm resolution for accurate mapping of events. With less than 1 meter (3 feet) dead zones, the µOTDR can conduct fast and accurate evaluations of central offices, FTTx cables, and intra-building cables. In addition to traditional premise/access applications, the µOTDR expands the areas in which handheld OTDRs can be used. Featuring dynamic range of 37 dB, the MT9090A Network Master can provide great detail and high resolution when measuring metro links, as well as conduct complete evaluation of long haul fibers up to 175 km (108 miles). The overall capability of the MT9090A Network Master makes it a single instrument solution for evaluating fibers in any network, including premise, access, metro, core, as well as PON-based FTTx networks featuring up to a 1x64 split.
