The DOE's Fuel Cell Technologies Program is offering up to $12 million to advance hydrogen storage technologies for use in fuel cell powered vehicles and other applications. The funding will be made available for applied research and development projects in two topic areas.
The first topic area involves development of low-cost, novel hydrogen storage vessels and/or low-cost fibers for composite tanks to reduce the overall costs of hydrogen storage. The second topic area involves development of novel, practical hydrogen storage materials for diverse applications.
This funding opportunity solicits applied R&D that will enable advanced hydrogen storage technologies for both stationary and light-duty vehicle transportation applications. Subject to annual appropriations, up to $12 million in DOE funds over the next three years will be available for research and development of hydrogen storage technologies including lower cost compressed tanks, advanced materials, and innovative concepts. The deadline for applications is April 29, 2011.
