Newport Corporation’s Oriel Instruments division (Irvine, CA) has introduced the Oriel IQE-200TM, an instrument that permits simultaneous measurements of the external quantum efficiency (EQE) and the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of solar cells, detectors, or any photon-to-charge converting devices.

The new IQE-200 integrated measurement system has a patent-pending design incorporating a detector geometry which splits the beam, allowing for concurrent measurements.

The photovoltaic cell measurement system combines a rugged and durable Oriel light source, a monochromator, advanced sensor technology, and related electronics and software. The Oriel QE CommanderTM software, pre-loaded on a PC, is designed to control all the components and accessories, providing a simultaneous, real-time readout of EQE and IQE in a single measurement.

The Oriel IQE-AC-QTH-SI, of the IQE-200 family, is ideal for the measurement of silicon-based cells (both amorphous and mono/poly crystalline), thin film cells, copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS), cadmium telluride (CdTe), and more.
