Micro projectors from 3M that can be connected to mobile phones and cameras include LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semi-conductors. The small, bright, energy-saving diodes were the key to developing the micro projectors, which could not be implemented with other light sources. Depending on lighting conditions, the LEDs project images of more than a meter.

Using 3M’s small MPro120 PocketProjector, which is about the size of a mobile phone, photos or videos can be easily viewed by projecting them on a wall. This is made possible by the OSTAR SMT LED, which has been adapted specifically to 3M’s requirements. The MPro120 can also be connected to other devices with an AV-input, such as digital cameras or laptops.

The OSTAR SMT is ideal for use in micro projectors and is the base technology for the MPro120 light source.

Thin film chip technology and a specially developed LED enclosure make powerful light possible in small spaces. The LED’s low energy consumption conserves the projector’s battery and ensures longer operating times, which is important for mobile applications.

By coordinating 3M’s light engine with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ LED, the projector is very efficient at more than ten lumens per watt. As it works with a multichip-LED, which comprises two green chips plus a red and blue one each, the unit achieves excellent color rendering.
