WCX™ World Congress Experience 2019 — presented by SAE International — is for forward-thinking engineers, executives, OEMs, suppliers, decision-makers, disruptors, and the entire spectrum of the mobility engineering field. Held April 9-11 in Detroit, WCX will offer technical education, peer-to-peer networking, a technology-driven exhibit floor, and global mobility solutions. The event covers every corner of the mobility industry from IoT, Big Data, and connectivity, to unmanned vehicles, sustainability, and cybersecurity. More than 10,000 technical experts and business leaders attend WCX for a look into the latest trends and innovations.
The WCX program will feature technical sessions on the latest evolutions in critically impactful technologies. With an emphasis on active learning and collaboration, the program includes roundtable discussions and moderated panels as well as presentations on published technical manuscripts and oral-only papers. The following technical tracks will be covered.
Design and Manufacturing: Topics include 3D printing, electric vehicles, CAD/CAM/CAE, robotics design, simulation and test, and design optimization.
Advanced Propulsion/Powertrain: Topics include advanced fuel cells, lubricants, driveline components, alternative fuels, fuel injection, battery technologies, and engine design.
Electronics/Connectivity/IoT/Smart City: Topics include engine control, sensor fusion, cybersecurity, electronics, vehicle networks, autonomous systems, connected car, big data analytics, and mobility of the future.
Materials and Lightweighting: Topics include advanced coatings, fatigue modeling, testing, sheet metal forming, composites, and welding/joining.
Environment/Emissions/Sustainability/Thermal Management: Topics include emissions measurement and control, thermal systems, alternative energy, and climate control.
Body/Chassis/Occupant and Pedestrian Safety/Structure: Topics include human factors, occupant protection systems, vehicle dynamics, tire and wheel technology, fire safety, and steering and suspension.
Technical expert panels will cover topics such as artificial intelligence, the future of mobility, autonomous vehicles, big data, and lubricants.
In the WCX Leadership Summit, experts discuss the links between business and technology in this unique venue. In specialized roundtable discussions, executives discuss critical business issues driving quality, performance, safety, design, development, and cost optimization of mobility.
This year, in addition to the roundtable discussions, the Leadership Summit will feature pioneers and thought leaders from a number of industries to discuss technology, ideas, and concepts that go beyond traditional mobility. Following talks on the exhibition floor, attendees have the opportunity to network with the speakers and ask questions.
Now integrated with WCX, Connect-2Car™ provides solutions in electronics, technology insertion, systems integration, software development, and aftermarket systems. It incorporates demonstrations, panels, and next-generation products and is your source for expert insight into the future of connected vehicles.
The Learning Lab offers interaction with new technology from exhibitors. Discuss the latest innovations in mobility products with engineers and suppliers in an intimate theater venue, as well as ask questions and experience hands-on demonstrations.
Share ideas and get answers from mobility professionals and industry leaders in an intimate setting at the Knowledge Bar. Subject-matter experts lead 20-minute presentations on mobility industry topics in a casual environment that encourages attendee engagement. Featured speakers will share advice and insights on a range of mobility topics including automatic emergency braking, battery validation, cybersecurity, emissions control, human-machine interface, V2X connected vehicle standards, and wireless vehicle charging.
In addition to the marketplace of products, ideas, and solutions, the exhibition floor offers the opportunity to network and collaborate in Technology Pavilions. The Connect2Car Pavilion explores the products and technology shaping the future of autonomous vehicles, connectivity, and cybersecurity. The Light-weighting/Materials/Efficiency Pavilion investigates the latest in material development and application, and research and development organizations. The Korean Pavilion houses 16 exhibitors — from startups to well-established mobility players — that will showcase the latest technology and innovations from South Korea. A Start-up Pavilion lets attendees discover emerging innovations in this new area dedicated to start-ups.
