Polarization Camera

Lucid Vision Labs, Richmond, BC, Canada, announced the 5-megapixel Phoenix polarization camera that can be used to detect stress or defects in manufacturing of materials such as plastic, glass, and carbon fiber. The global shutter sensor, with a pixel size of 3.45 μm and frame rates of up to 24 fps, is based on the IMX250 Sony Pregius CMOS mono sensor with polarizing filter added to the pixel. The sensor has four different directional polarizing filters (0°, 90°, 45°, and 135°) on every four pixels. The camera performs on-camera processing using the four filters, and outputs both the intensity and polarized angle of each image pixel. The GigE PoE micro-compact camera measures 24 × 24 mm, and features NF-mount and lens options.

Electronics Enclosures

ROLEC Enclosures, Bridgeville, PA, offers technoBOX ABS electronics enclosures in ten sizes ranging from 2.59 × 2.00 × 1.37” to 9.48 × 6.33 × 3.15”. The enclosures are suitable for a wide range of industrial electronics and electrical applications. Separate screw channels outside the enclosure’s interior maximize the space available for components. The beveled lid is recessed to accommodate a membrane keypad or front plate. The lid screws are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and are captured to avoid accidental loss. Threaded screw bosses in the lid and base enable the installation of PCBs, mounting plates, and terminal rails. Options include external mounting brackets that can be turned by 90°.

EMI/EMC Testing System

The EMCVu all-in-one system for EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing from Tektronix, Beaverton, OR, tests for electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The system consists of real-time USB spectrum analyzers, powered through the USB connection. They are controlled by SignalVu-PC software running on a laptop or tablet that has been enhanced with optional EMCVu software to provide pre-compliance and troubleshooting capability in the same user interface. The software offers built-in support for standards, and pushbutton accessory selection and setup. It also includes automated ambient noise capture, multi-failure re-measurement, and harmonic markers for analysis.

Thermal Switch

SCHURTER, Santa Rosa, CA, introduced a reflowable thermal switch device for thermal protection of power semiconductors such as MOSFETs, ICs, IGBTs, TRIACs, and SCRs. The device interrupts the circuit at a predefined temperature. It can be mounted using conventional reflow soldering techniques with temperature profiles up to 260 °C. After the solder process, the switch is mechanically activated by depressing the top into place, arming it to trip at 210 °C. It sustains operating currents up to 100 A at rated voltages of up to 60 VDC in a 6.6 × 8.8 mm package.

TVS Diodes

Littelfuse, Chicago, IL, introduced the SP4208 Series discrete TVS diodes that integrate low-capacitance steering diodes with one or two avalanche breakdown diodes for unidirectional or bidirectional protection, respectively, to protect against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and lightning-induced surge events. The components can safely absorb up to 30A, and a minimum ±30 kV ESD. Low loading capacitance and high surge capability make it suitable for protecting telecommunication ports such as Ethernet and other highspeed data interfaces. The diodes feature low leakage current, and are halogen-free, lead-free, and RoHS-compliant. Applications include computers, instrumentation, and medical equipment.

Line Scan Cameras

Teledyne e2v, Milpitas, CA, introduced ELiiXA+ trilinear line scan cameras. The 8k-pixel cameras are suited for industrial applications that require high color resolution and image sharpness such as electronics and PCB inspection. The trilinear configuration enables use of a multi-light setup to discriminate the light coming from different angles in a single scan. The cameras have a CameraLink interface and can be operated at up to 33 KHz with an 8k-pixel resolution. Using multiline sensors, the cameras can also be customized with different types of color filters.
