The Sirius long-wavelength infrared detector from Sofradir, Paris, France, is based on Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) technology, and features 640 x 512, 20μm pitch, and TV format compatibility. The large-format infrared detector has applications in high-definition imaging in military uses such as armored vehicle sights, infrared search and track, surveillance and reconnaissance, and scanning array systems. The detector operates in the 8-9 waveband, and at 75°K (-198°C), which enables it to use a compact Stirling microcooler at 0.75 watts.
