MEN Micro, Ambler, PA, has introduced the RS3 managed Ethernet switch and RS4 unmanaged Ethernet switch, each built with an aluminum housing and M12 connectors with eight Fast Ethernet ports per switch. The switches are designed for system safety in harsh, mobile, and mission-critical applications. The maintenance-free, fanless switches are fault-tolerant, storing themselves on their own. If a link is temporarily unavailable, frames are sent via backup/redundant links to avoid data loss. A built-in test mechanism also is included. Each switch supports full and half-duplex operation with auto-negotiation and non-blocking store-and-forward switching. Both models feature a service port that allows configuration via a Web interface, CLI, SNMP Version 3 or exterior dongle for the RS3, and via an SPI for the RS4. The aluminum housing measures 220 × 130 × 70 mm. Operating temperature ranges from -40 to 70 °C.
