Manufacturing employment fell by 161,000 last month, and as we all know, most other aspects of our economy are not doing much better. Displaced engineers are finding that having skills in 3D computer-aided design could improve the success of their job search.

To that end, Dassault Systems SolidWorks has launched an “Engineering Stimulus Package” that gives free SolidWorks 3D CAD software licenses, training videos, tutorials, networking, certification, and potential job leads to any job-seeker in the US or Canada.

The package includes a 90-day software license, hands-on training from SolidWorks resellers, access to the SolidWorks Customer Portal for support and networking, and free testing to become a Certified SolidWorks Associate.

DS SolidWorks CEO Jeff Ray hopes many displaced engineers take advantage of the program. “Actively developing high-demand skills can help transform your outlook, instill hope, and qualify you for well-paying careers,” he said.
