CMOS Image Sensor

Teledyne e2v (Chelmsford, UK) recently announced its Emerald 67 megapixel, the newest member of its Emerald CMOS image sensor family. The new sensor features a high resolution with a small global shutter pixel (2.5µm). Emerald 67M provides ultra-low noise performance and only 2.8e- of readout noise. The sensor is highly sensitive with 70% QE, enabling precise defect and particle identification. The new sensor is compatible with 59 x 59mm² camera platforms and has optical and package centers that are fully aligned for easy integration. It has an APS-C optical format, up to 72 sub LVDS outputs and 8/10/12 bit conversion modes, all within a reliable ceramic µPGA package.

4 kW Industrial Diode Laser System

The new Coherent (Santa Clara, CA) HighLight® DL4000HPR delivers 4 kW at a wavelength between 920 nm and 1100 nm, through a detachable, 1000 μm diameter delivery fiber. A variety of output delivery fiber and beam shaping/focusing optics and connectors are available. Its small footprint and standard, 19" rack mount packaging facilitate its integration into existing systems. Additionally, the power supply and control electronics are contained in the system enclosure. Its conduction-cooled diodes do not require deionized cooling water, and it has a wall plug efficiency of 45 percent.

Silicon Imaging Sensors

sglux GmbH  (Berlin, Germany) and Boston Electronics  (Brookline, MA) announced a line of visible light sensors designed with selectable sensitivity ranges and amplified 0 – 5V output. The new line is designated as Silicon TOCONs, noting their heritage to the sglux UV TOCON products. The sensors output an amplified 0 - 5 volts. Ten available models cover twelve orders of magnitude (picowatts/cm2 to Watts/cm2). Spectral coverage spans from UV to near-IR in a single sensor (290 nm – 1010 nm). Numerous applications include analytical instrumentation, chemical analysis, illumination control and laser detection.

Color Polarization Camera

LUCID Vision Labs, Inc. (Richmond, BC, Canada) recently unveiled its upcoming 5 Megapixel Phoenix polarization camera incorporating the Sony IMX250MYR polarized color sensor. The 5 MP global shutter sensor with a pixel size of 3.45µm and frame rates of up to 24 fps is based on the popular IMX250 Sony Pregius CMOS color sensor with polarizing filters added to the pixel. The sensor has four different directional polarizing filters (0°, 90°, 45°, and 135°) on every four pixels. The Phoenix color polarization camera is equipped with a RGGB Bayer filter in addition to the directional polarizing filter to form a 16 pixels calculation unit.
