Low-Power Sealed Laser

Luxinar (Kingston Upon Hull, UK) has introduced the SR 08s for marking, scribing and kiss cutting applications requiring average rather than peak power. The new low-power sealed CO2 laser source targets customers who prefer lower power of less than 125W. The compact lightweight SR 08s is available in two wavelengths, 10.6µm and 9.3µm, with a rated power of 80W for the 10.6µm and 60W for the 9.3µm version. Like all of the SR series lasers, the SR 08s is IP66 rated to ensure a high level of protection against dust, heat and water spray, making it ideal for the harshest of industrial environments.

64 Megapixel Image Sensor

OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) announced the OV64B, the industry’s only 64-megapixel (MP) image sensor with a 0.7 micron pixel size, enabling 64 MP resolution in a 1/2” optical format. This allows high-end and high-mainstream smartphone designers to create the thinnest possible phones with high resolution 64 MP cameras. Built on OmniVision’s PureCel® Plus stacked die technology, this sensor provides leading-edge still image captures and exceptional 4K video recordings with electronic image stabilization (EIS), as well as 8K video at 30 frames per second (fps). These features make the OV64B suitable for the main, wide, ultra-wide or telephoto rear-facing camera in multicamera configurations.

3.2 MP CMOS Image Sensor

Teledyne e2v (Grenoble, France), a Teledyne Technologies company, announced its new Emerald 3.2 Megapixel CMOS image sensor, specially designed to tackle the challenges of emerging applications such as security, drones and embedded vision, as well as traditional machine vision. With its 2.8 µm global shutter pixel, the new 3.2M sensor features a MIPI interface, that provides a direct connection to low-cost MIPI ISPs and a central optical center that helps to minimize camera size. Its small pixel enables the sensor to fit within compact S-mount optics. In addition, Emerald 3.2M is pin-to-pin and optically compatible with Emerald 2M and Emerald 5M.

Thin Films for COVID-19 Detection Devices

Alluxa, Inc. (Santa Rosa, CA) has extended its Ultra Series to include high-performance polymerase chain reaction (PCR) specific filters. These filters were developed to improve speed and efficiency of real time qPCR testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These ultra-steep filters with >OD6 blocking out of the band and state-of-the-art center wavelength tolerances of < ± 0.3% offer the highest transmission levels available with a passband average of >95%. The new filters aid in the fluorescent detection of the virus and cover most common fluorophores for single and multiplexed qPCR filters, including FAM, Cy5, HEX, JOE, ROX, TexasRed®, and TRITC.
