CreateMEPReport.pl software is designed to read through a description of observations scheduled to be taken by the instruments onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft to categorize the observations, and then present totals for the categories by instrument. Previously, this function was done in a spreadsheet, but this was prone to error and was extremely complicated.

The script for

this software is written in Perl and should operate on any machine that supports Perl. Some of the program operating modes are dependent on the MRO operations environment. Some modes of operation can be used in a standalone manner. This software accepts input to specify the desired iptf files to be examined in preparing the output reports. The output reports show the total number of observations according to predefined categories, which relate to specific characteristics of each observation. All characteristics are accumulated on a by-instrument basis. In a few cases, characteristics are only meaningful for one instrument.
