As part of its seven-year contract with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, General Dynamics C4 Systems will focus on making improvements to the ground system and network for NASA’s Tracking Data and Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) constellation.

General Dynamics, a system integrator for the Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) project, will implement a ground-system architecture that ensures that the space network continues to provide global space-to-ground telecommunications and tracking coverage for low-Earth orbit and near-Earth spaceflight missions. Particular focus will be given to project integration, testing, and operational transition so the new system is implemented without interrupting ongoing operations of the space network. The network supports all NASA scientific and human spaceflight missions, including the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station.

Operating out of the White Sands Complex in New Mexico and the TDRSS Terminal in Guam, the scalable system will also accommodate larger quantities of data, expanding coverage at greater distances. General Dynamics specializes in command and control, communications networking, and computing and information assurance for defense.
