Throughout history, women have made extensive contributions in many areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We spoke with five women who lead their fields in engineering and science to get their views on the gender gap in these areas and how each overcame roadblocks on their way to success. They share a common thread: the “yes, I can” mentality led them to become influential leaders for girls and women.
