The Titan Krios™ transmission electron microscope from FEI, Hillsboro, OR, allows researchers to visualize the mechanisms of individual proteins and molecular machines, and to localize that activity within the three-dimensional architecture of the cell. The microscope has been optimized for cryo-transmission electron microscopy, automated single-particle analysis, 2D electron crystallography, and dual-axis tomography.

It features the option of selecting an optimal acceleration voltage between 80 and 300 kV, and the ability to maximize sample integrity to achieve contamination-free sample transfer and imaging. The AutoLoader™ allows for fully automated and contamination-free loading and analysis of up to 12 samples contained in the AutoGrid™ sample holder. The enclosed platform design combines a constant sample environment with a high throughput modality.
