The Orbit Determination Toolbox (ODTBX) 2012a (v5.0) is an advanced mission simulation and analysis tool used for concept exploration, proposal, early design phase, or rapid design center environments: the emphasis is on flexibility, but it has enough fidelity to produce credible results. ODTBX v5.0 includes multiple feature additions, enhancements, and bug fixes from the prior release (v4.5). The primary user interface and supporting functions are written in Matlab and Java.

The long-term goal of the ODTBX development team is to become the primary navigation analysis tool for the Navigation & Mission Design Branch at GSFC (Goddard Space Flight Center). Current navigation analysis tools were written decades ago and are difficult to use and maintain. In order to fully satisfy the analysis needs of the branch, ODTBX must replicate the functionality of existing tools while remaining flexible enough to adapt to more modern and advanced navigation concepts and techniques.

The main benefit of ODTBX is its flexible architecture and adaptability. All functionality and algorithms are based on published literature and are already in the public domain. ODTBX 2012a (v5.0) is an open-source product.
