A group of undergrad students at Virginia Tech has built a CubeSat satellite with a 3D-printed side panel that includes temperature gauges to test how the material will hold up in space. The CubeSat’s mission is to provide better, more accurate modeling of atmospheric conditions in low orbit and increase usage of satellites in that layer.

The data also will provide additional opportunities for students to gain experience in networking, cloud computing, and network storage.
