A recent Tech Briefs TV video showcased a wireless camera from the University of Washington – a device that is small enough to fit on an insect’s back, literally.

While the imaging advancement offers potential applications in biology and exploration, the UW team acknowledged that the easily hidden, tiny tech comes with privacy risks.

“As researchers we strongly believe that it’s really important to put things in the public domain so people are aware of the risks and so people can start coming up with solutions to address them,” said senior researcher and UW professor Shyam Gollakota in a university press release.
