A group of researchers are using a surprising ingredient in their robot design: Bubbles. (Watch the demo on Tech Briefs TV.)

The team from China built miniature robots from bubbles that lift, drop, and manipulate small pieces into interconnected structures. The engineers say this assembly technology is simple and efficient, and is expected to play an important role in micro-operation, modular assembly, and tissue engineering.
