With cases first reported in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, COVID-19, of course, wreaked havoc across the entire planet to the tune of 628.7 million infections and 6.5 million deaths — including more than 115,000 health workers — worldwide.

It destroyed lives, upended daily routines, and even threw a wrench into simply going to work.

However, the one silver lining that the pandemic hath wrought is an expansion of infectious-disease-testing technology. In a perfect world we would never again need such intense testing methods. However, that’s simply not feasible.
