Human skin is soft, stretchy, and has millions of nerve endings — the perfect combination for living and adapting to the world around us. Engineers have been working to replicate these senses for the past XX (nice try!) years, to no avail.

With research and modern technological advances, though, more abilities are available — covering robots, human wearables, health detection — bringing us one step closer to electronic skin (e-skin).

A full e-skin system includes a flexible, stretchy skin-like covering; a power supply; myriad sensors; and a way(s) to send the sensor information to a central processor.

So, how much do you know about e-skin? Find out with the quiz below.
