Matrox Imaging, Dorval, QE, Canada, has introduced the Orion HD graphics adapter with video capture capabilities. It features two independent video paths; each path can connect and switch between RGB/CVBS/YPrPb, DVI-D/HDMI, and SDI signal types through DVI-D and BNC connectivity. It can handle different resolutions and rates including SD, HD, PC, and non-standard. It includes a programmable color space converter for obtaining accurate color representation of the original image. Video outputs are independent of each other as well as independent from the video inputs.

The video outputs can be used for a single extended Windows® desktop or a separate desktop and exclusive display for the application. A PCIe x16 host interface provides the board with the throughput necessary to handle the transfer of two HD video streams to the host memory. With a peak bandwidth of up to 4 GB/s, the board’s host interface prevents video data from being discarded.
