The OVSRRGBCC3 is a surface-mount RGB LED with a 150° viewing angle from OPTEK Technology, Carrollton, TX. The three separate diodes are housed in a miniature package that is compatible with automatic pick-and-place equipment, as well as infrared and vapor phase solder reflow processes. The 1204 package size provides the option of mounting the LED as a top-emitting or side-emitting device, making the LED package suitable for applications with limited board space such as handheld applications.

The LED is specified for use in automotive dashboard and switch backlighting, telecommunications backlighting in telephones and faxes, and flat backlighting for LCDs, switches, and symbols. The full-color surface-mount LED package is composed of a red, green, and blue LED with a white diffused lens. The red LED features AlInGaP material with a typical intensity of 125 mcd. The green and blue LEDs utilize InGaN material and feature typical intensities of 300 mcd and 75 mcd, respectively.

The red LED has continuous forward current of 30 mA with power dissipation of 78 mW. Continuous forward current for the green and blue LEDs is 20 mA and power dissipation is 84 mW. The package measures 3.2 × 1.0 mm, with a height of 1.5 mm. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C.
