The Model CAN-PCI-02 Control Area Network (CAN) card from Copley Controls Corp. (Canton, MA) provides an interface between the company’s distributed motion control software and its CANopen servo and stepper drives. It facilitates plug-and-play CANopen operation and is PCI compliant. Compatible with 3.3V and 5VDC environments, the card’s onboard microcontroller offloads processing tasks from the host computer. The card employs high-speed ISO 11898 driver circuits for CAN bus bit rates to 1 Mbit/sec, and provides dual isolated channels and PCI 32-bit interface. The card’s two independent CAN ports are isolated for noise immunity.
