iC-Haus Corp. USA (Naperville, IL) introduces the iC-MH, a system-on-chip solution for magnetic sensor applications. The iC-MH’s 5 x 5 mm QFN28 package contains integrated Hall sensors with signal amplifier and gain control, two A/D converters for incremental and commutation signals, integrated RS-422 line drivers, and the serial BiSS/SSI-interface. It features angle resolution programmable to 4,096 steps per turn, and the output edge rate of 8 MHz can support motor speeds to 120 RPM. The commutation signals UVW are available to drive motors with two and four poles.

An additional bidirectional or synchronous serial BiSS/SSI-interface is integrated. The programmable configuration, such as resolution, hysteresis, edge distance, zero-position of the ABZ and UVW signals, and the rotating direction, can be set over the BiSS-interface. It operates with a +5V supply voltage and in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The iC-MH can be used in the industrial and automotive field for motor, position, and speed control, as well as absolute rotating angle measurement. The iC-MH can also be used as a digital potentiometer and as a replacement of a resolver or optical encoder.
