Microchip Technology, Chandler, AZ, has announced the dsPIC33FJ12MC family of motor control digital signal controllers. Hardware features include a motor control PWM with two independent clock sources for motor control algorithms — such as field-oriented control — and active power factor correction using a DSC and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The on-chip ADC and motor control PWM are also suitable for power conversion and LED lighting applications.

The dsPIC33FJ12MC family features peripheral pin select, which allows designers to remap digital I/O. Other features include 40 MIPS performance, 12 Kbytes of Flash, 1 Kbyte of RAM, ADC with 6 channels, and user-selectable 10-bit or 12-bit mode. The dsPIC33FJ12MC201 model is available in 20-pin SOIC and SDIP packages, while the dsPIC33FJ12MC202 is available in 28-pin AFN, SOIC, and SDIP packages.
