A pocket-sized, vision-guided motion controller from Precise Automation (San Jose, CA) is based on a distributed network architecture that allows the device to be located at the point of use. Along with standard features of multi-axis robotic motion control, integrated servo motor drives, network communications, and machine vision interface, the Guidance 1400A series includes a dedicated MCP interface for connecting to remote IO, as well as motor drives capable of driving 200W and 100W motors simultaneously. The user interface is based on a web server that resides in the Guidance 1400A, allowing the controller to be accessed from other locations. The software includes a set of motion commands, machine kinematics, continuous path motion planner and trajectory generator, and an optional machine vision package that can execute in a networked PC. The vision software also contains measurement tools and a patented object locator that can find multiple instances of parts in an orientation.
