PCB Piezotronics (Depew, NY), a wholly owned subsidiary of MTS Systems Corp., released Models 682A14 and 682A15 low-cost vibration transmitters designed for use with a 100 mV/g ICP accelerometer. They were developed for use in process monitoring and PLC/DCS/SCADA monitoring applications. Features include fixed output range (0 to 1.0 ips pk for Model 682A14 and 0 to 1.0 ips RMS for Model 682A15), frequency range (3.5 to 10,000 Hz for both models), and current and raw voltage outputs with raw voltage output available from a terminal pair and BNC jack.

Positioning Device

ALIO Industries (Arvada, CO) released the HH-30D Hybrid Hexapod® 6-degrees-of-freedom nanopositioning device with 30-degree tip and tilt travel.

The design is comprised of a parallel kinematic tripod to deliver Z-plane and tip/tilt motion. The tripod is integrated with a monolithic serial kinematic stage for XY planar motion. A rotary stage integrated into the top of the tripod (or beneath, depending on application needs) provides 360-degree continuous yaw (Theta-Z) rotation.

In this hybrid design, individual axes can be customized to provide XY travel ranges from millimeters to virtually unlimited ranges while maintaining nanometer-levels of precision. Forward and inverse controller kinematics provide an unlimited number of programmable tool center point (TCP) locations.

The tripod design uses ballscrews driven by frameless servo motors with an upper joint design that provides the travel range in a self-nesting package.

Motor and drive are matched in drive switching frequency, commutation algorithms, and motor magnetics, avoiding micro-incompatibilities. The motor can be dropped into existing machines and can reduce indexing and move and settle times by delivering increased torque and power. maxon precision motors (Taunton, MA) offers a miniaturized controller with a size of 32 × 22 mm. The device is suitable for use with both brushed DC and brushless EC motors of up to 120 W and has feedback options such as Hall sensors and digital incremental and SSI absolute encoders. Wireless Accelerometer

TTI (Fort Worth, TX) offers the TE Connectivity Model 8911 wireless accelerometer that combines a sensor, data collector, digital signal processor, and radio into one battery-operated device that measures both vibration and temperature data. It uses the LoRaWAN™ communication protocol and incorporates a piezoelectric accelerometer with a wide bandwidth to >10 kHz. The device contains digital signal processing that provides an FFT analysis of the vibration being sensed. Output data describes the center frequency, peak value, bandwidth, and percent of the total spectral content for the eight most significant acceleration peaks in the vibration signal. Brushless DC Motors

The T85 version with black plastic material features tracking resistance of PTI 300 and high functional reliability. Using application-specific contact materials for switching currents from 0.1A up to 21A at 250VAC, the switches offer several available actuators and mounting points. Torque-Limiter Sprocket

U.S. Tsubaki Power Transmission (Wheeling, IL) announced the Torque Limiter Sprocket, a complete assembly providing both the torque limiter and sprocket as one unit. All components are pre-assembled and bored-to-order, eliminating the need for end users to assemble the limiting device, springs, bushings, and sprocket. The sprockets provide maximum protection to critical equipment from torque overloading. When overload is removed, the unit will automatically reset. Cable Extension Sensor

ASM Sensors (Elmhurst, IL) offers the posiwire WST85 cable extension sensor with combined displacement and inclination measurement.

The sensors are equipped with contact-less, magnetic multihall encoder technology. Inclination is measured by an integrated inclination sensor element based on MEMS technology.

Linear Stepper Motor

Nippon Pulse America (Radford, VA) introduced the PFL20 Linearstep linear stepper motor, a high-thrust tin-can linear actuator with a 20-mm diameter and a bipolar winding. The motor is RoHS-compliant, has a 30/60-mm effective stroke, and can reach 6 N of force at 200 pps. With 24 steps per revolution, the lead screw has a 1.2-mm thread pitch. Encoders

Rotary Sensors

Ball Screw
