Motor Disconnect Switches

MENNEKES Electrical Products (Fairfield, NJ) released the CDS Series of non-metallic, curved-top motor disconnect switches. The curved profile eliminates standing water and minimizes contaminant buildup.

The switches feature a chemical-resistant thermoplastic enclosure with UL Type 4X and IP69K ratings, making it resistant to frequent high-pressure washdown.

Its handle is lockout-tagout (LO/TO) compliant and its 30A 25HP rating can satisfy most line disconnect requirements.

Features include laser marking for permanent identification, captive stainless-steel cover screws, poured-in-place seamless gasket, and impact-modified and UV-stabilized materials.

Stepper Motor Drive

FAULHABER Micromo (Clearwater, FL) offers a drive solution with the stepper motor of the DM66200H series for applications that require a large opening. It has a total diameter of 66 mm and a hollow shaft inner diameter of 40 mm.

The rotor with the opening directly drives the mechanics, which are arranged around the opening. The multi-pole, two-phase motor with permanent magnets delivers 200 steps per revolution with a high resolution of 1.8° in full step mode. It achieves a dynamic torque of up to 200 mNm and can move correspondingly large loads.

The maximum static torque is 307 mNm; 581 mNm when boosted. Speeds of up to 2,000 revolutions per minute can be achieved.

Manual Swing Clamps

Destaco (Auburn Hills, MI) offers manual swing clamps for fixture building/testing, welding, and assembly operations in the industrial, aerospace, and automotive markets. The clamps combine pneumatic swing clamps — which provide quick swing-and-clamp movement —and straight-line action clamps that can be locked in two positions to enable either push or pull operation.

The clamps feature an enclosed cam track and can clamp and lock in both retract and extend positions. They also feature a detent that holds the clamp in the open position in order to prevent unwanted movement.

Vision System

L.S. Starrett (Athol, MA) introduced the AVX550 Multi-Sensor Vision System equipped with dual optical systems and touch-probe capability to measure parts with a diverse range of feature sizes and geometries.

The system can be equipped with two cameras and lenses to be used sequentially in the same program along with touch probe options, a granite base, and bridge design. The primary zoom lens enables intricate features to be inspected with resolution up to 2 microns. A secondary, large field-of-view camera is equipped with a telecentric lens that can simultaneously inspect large areas of a part or an entire part itself. For inspection of intricate areas, a 12:1 zoom optics lens is equipped with a 26× to 310× magnification range. The fixed magnification telecentric lens comes with magnification options of 0.14×, 0.3×, 0.5×, 0.8×, 1.0×, 2.0×, and 4.0×.

Encoder Multiplier/Splitter

ACS Motion Control USA (Edina, MN) announced the EM1024 SinCos encoder multiplier and splitter, a single-channel analog system designed for motion control applications such as inspection and metrology systems. From the original incoming SinCos encoder signal, two pairs of output encoder signals (four total) are generated — two buffered SinCos identical to the original and two AqB with up to 1024 counts per SinCos period. Features include filtering, gain/phase/offset, and hysteresis calibration; DIN rail mount form factor with D-sub connectors; jumper-selectable power supply input source from controller/drive or external supply; and maximum SinCos encoder input frequency of 700 KHz (absolute maximum).

Motion Failure Detection

THK (Schaumburg, IL) released the OMNIedge System that enables predictive failure detection of linear motion components. The network sets up automatically and sensors are installed on existing components for remote monitoring of operating conditions. Data is securely collected through a dedicated, closed IoT network for analysis and to provide alerts. When the system detects signs of component degradation based on threshold value, users can check inventory, order parts, and schedule maintenance. Different sensor fasteners are available for mounting on different types of linear motion components.
