The MatrixCam™ video development kit (VDK) from On Semiconductor (Phoenix, AZ) streams video over Wi-Fi and Ethernet, at 60 fps. Available at the imaging technology distributor Framos Technologies (Ontario, Canada), the low-power 1080p camera can be used in home automation systems, baby monitors, advanced lighting controls, and smart appliances.

The MatrixCam VDK offers wake-up capability, initiated by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or through the motion-detecting integrated passive infrared (PIR) sensor. The kit detects individuals up to 15 feet, with a detection angle of at least 140 degrees. Upon wake-up, a push notification is sent to an assigned mobile device, alerting the user that a live stream or a still image is available for viewing.

The video development kit connects to cloud services with support for video-on-demand, live streaming, and cloud recording. Omni-directional microphones (with 16 kHz and 32/64kbps AAC-LC audio encoding) enable sound applications. A standard Micro USB interface and single-cell lithium ion battery charger provides power.
