Trilinear Line Scan Cameras

Teledyne e2v (Milpitas, CA) has announced its next generation of line scan cameras — the high-resolution ELiiXA+ trilinear color range. These new 8k pixel cameras are suited for industrial applications such as print, label, textile, electronics, and PCB inspection, that require high color resolution and image sharpness.

The trilinear configuration of the new camera not only enables color images, but also makes it possible to use a multi-light setup to discriminate the light coming from different angles in a single scan. This reduces production time, compared to using sequentially pulsing lights.

The first camera model in the ELiiXA+ trilinear color range has a CameraLink interface and can be operated at up to 33 KHz with an 8k pixel resolution. An entry-level product, it can replace CCD trilinear cameras, enabling system integrators to increase speed or resolution.

FluxData (Rochester, NY) has released the SpectraNova™ D8-M2 color measurement system, designed for reliability and efficiency. The measurement head is sealed, with a sapphire window to protect the integrating sphere from a factory environment, and is easily cleanable in the field. Measurements are reported instantly to software through a machine-to-machine interface, eliminating the need for a human operator.

Designed for industrial applications, it is non-contact, rapid, compact, and correlates with QC laboratory systems. It also includes 8° diffuse geometry, offers reflectance and CIE colorimetric data output, rapid measurement cycles of less than 150 milliseconds, and requires minimal maintenance. With a head weighing 0.36 kg (0.80 lbs.) and the system weighing 2.29 kg (5.05 lbs.), the system has the potential to be placed virtually anywhere on a production line, with the supporting electronics housed in a separate enclosure.

Precision Alignment Lasers

Laser Components (Bedford, NH) is offering two additions to its portfolio of high-precision alignment lasers: LT-PLM-635-01-C1 and LT-PLM-IRB-635-01-C1. At the exit point, the beams of these modules have diameters of 1 mm and a squint angle of 0.05 mrad, which equals 5/100 mm per meter distance from the target. The small exit diameter produces an exceptionally small dot on the target area. Due to its higher divergence, its use is recommended at distances of up to 3m. Both profiles are available in a 24 mm housing with M12 connections or as a mobile version with an integrated battery in a 35 mm housing.

The “squint angle” defines the aberration of the laser beam from the central axis of the housing. This effect can be watched by putting the laser module on a plane surface and rotating it along its longitudinal axis. The laser spot will then move in a circle on the wall.

Thin-Film Filter Photodetectors

Opto Diode Corporation (Camarillo, CA) is introducing the SXUV100TF135 and SXUV100TF135B photodiodes with integrated thin-film filters. The detectors each feature a 100 mm2 active area and a directly-deposited thin-film filter for detection between 12 nm and 18 nm. Both have typical responsivity of 0.09 A/W at 13.5 nm and are optimized for different electrical performance. Operating and storage temperatures range from -10°C to +40°C in ambient environments and from -20°C to +80°C in nitrogen or vacuum environments.

The SXUV100TF135 is optimized for higher speed reverse bias voltage operation. The device has low capacitance, typically 260 pF, with a reverse bias voltage of 12 volts. The SXUV100TF135B is optimized for zero bias voltage operation where low dark current is of paramount importance. The detector has a high shunt resistance greater than 10 MΩ.

Optical Transceivers

Bowman (Schaumburg, IL), has introduced its P Series, benchtop XRF coating measurement instrument. It simultaneously identifies elements Al13 through U92 on the periodic table in each of up to 5 coating layers, with high precision and speed. Standard system configurations include a four-position collimator assembly, variable focus camera for applications with recessed areas, extended-life micro-focus X-ray tube, and solid-state PIN detector. The detector has well-defined element peaks, eliminating the need for secondary filters. Minimal peak position drift assures high stability over time and extends the interval between recalibrations.

The intimate proximity of the X-ray tube and detector produces more than three times the photon counts of conventional XRF equipment, and in a shorter measurement time. The extended programmable X-Y axis, suits it for measuring small features, or parts such as fasteners, connectors, and PCBs. Table size is 25” × 25”; travel is 10” × 10”.
